what is naturopathic medicine?

Naturopathic medicine is a method of medicine that believes in the inherent ability of the body to heal, and uses a number of different therapies to address the whole person, not just a specific diagnosis. It combines modern scientific knowledge with traditional teachings, and acknowledges that each individual is unique with a unique set of circumstances.

Tenets of naturopathic medicine

Naturopathic medicine aims to use the least forceful therapy to achieve results. In our culture, we are used to the idea that stronger is better, or more is better. But that’s not always the case. Sometimes less is more. Additionally, each person is unique. It is important to take into consideration their own needs and preferences.

When we support all aspects of the individual - body, mind, and spirit - and remove the things that get in the way of health, we are able to heal. As a Naturopathic Physician, I will help you identify what is preventing a return to balance and get you back to feeling well.

Symptoms are our body’s way of communicating to us an underlying issue. In order to alleviate symptoms, we must dig deeper, ask questions, and really figure out what’s going on. By identifying and addressing what is causing the symptoms, true healing can begin.
